Enneagram Center History

The Enneagram Center of the Ohio Valley (ECOV) began in 1995 when a group of women and men met with Helen Palmer and began a discussion about developing an Enneagram center in the Cincinnati area.

Our Mission and Vision

Enneagram Center of Ohio Valley, Inc. (ECOV), is a non-sectarian organization founded to foster personal and professional development through the teachings of the narrative tradition of the Enneagram.

History of the Enneagram Center of the Ohio Valley

The Enneagram Center of the Ohio Valley (ECOV) began in 1995 when a group of women and men met with Helen Palmer and began a discussion about developing an Enneagram center in the Cincinnati area. Helen promised her support to the group and so began a 15-year involvement with Helen Palmer and the Enneagram Studies in the Narrative Tradition (formerly known as the Enneagram Professional Training Program, EPTP*). With Helen’s support came the support of David Daniels who shared with Helen the development of the EPTP.

The newly formed ECOV members began training with Helen and David in California, formed a corporation, and began developing their vision of the ECOV. This group of 6 members has become a group of 27 members. The Vision and Mission Statements below have evolved out of the work and spirit of the group. Membership in ECOV requires at least one week of training in the Enneagram Intensive, a six-day Enneagram Studies course integrating psychological life and spirit. Some members have chosen to become Certified Teachers and have completed the extensive professional training program.

Enneagram Center Monthly Meeting

ECOV has a monthly meeting which consists of two hours of sharing and one hour of business. The content of the sharing portion of the monthly meeting focuses on continued growth in the understanding and integrating of the Enneagram work in individual lives. Through this sharing the membership continues the use of the narrative tradition as a powerful tool for learning. The business portion of the meeting focuses on the work that is extended out to the broader community, with the highlight being the yearly public conference with Helen Palmer.

The members volunteer their time and efforts to support the mission and vision of ECOV. Their energy for the work flows from the internal work that has been generated by their understanding and use of the Enneagram system. We are engineers, therapists, consultants, spiritual directors, retirees, homemakers, lawyers, and administrators who come together to explore and share the many uses of the Enneagram of Personality.
